Loved by our community

For queer humans,
like you.

Kalda is the first app where I didn't have to translate myself first. The courses felt like they were written for me, because they were.

The journal saved me on the nights I couldn't call anyone. I kept the app open like a lamp.

Finally, courses that don't pathologise a bad week. And the check-ins made me see the work was actually landing.

Sam O.

Cheaper than one session of my old therapist, and I can use it all year.

The course on gender identity gave me a way of socially transitioning where I'd been stuck for years.

FAQ

What is Kalda?
Kalda is a mental wellbeing app built for the LGBTQIA+ community. You get video courses, exercises, and reflection tools to support you, all created by queer clinicians. It's something you do in your own time, designed around queer life from the start, not as an afterthought.
Who is Kalda for?
Kalda is built for LGBTQIA+ people: queer, trans, non-binary, intersex, lesbian, gay, bisexual, questioning, and anyone exploring what those words might mean. You're welcome whether you're newly out, never out, deep in the community, or quietly figuring things out. Allies who want to support someone in their life are welcome too. More on Kalda's positioning.
What mental health and wellbeing topics does Kalda cover?
Kalda's courses cover anxiety, depression, self-esteem, overthinking, sleep, and identity-specific topics including sexuality, bisexuality, coming out, queer relationships, gender identity, gender exploration, and dysphoria. Browse the full course library or explore by topic.
Is Kalda therapy?
No. Kalda is a self-guided mental health app, not a therapy service. The courses draw on evidence-based approaches that a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist might use (CBT, ACT, and DBT) and they're created by LGBTQIA+ clinicians, but Kalda doesn't offer one-to-one sessions or treatment.
Can Kalda diagnose mental health issues?
No. Kalda is an educational and supportive tool, not a clinical diagnostic service. We do provide tools to help inform your own personal wellbeing insight but they cannot diagnose. Always speak to a GP or qualified mental health professional if you think you might benefit from a formal diagnosis or treatment. Kalda's courses can sit alongside that work but they don't replace it.
Can I use Kalda alongside therapy?
Yes. Many people use Kalda alongside therapy. The courses can deepen what you're working on with your therapist or give you tools between sessions. If you're already in therapy, mention you're using Kalda so your therapist can support how the work fits together.
Can I find therapists with Kalda?
No. Kalda is currently a self-guided app: courses, exercises, and reflection tools. We're not a therapist directory. It's actually why we started, to bridge the gap of expensive one-on-one therapy so that no one is left alone navigating their mental health. But if you do want to find a queer-affirming therapist in the UK, visit our friends at Pink Therapy who keep a directory of therapists trained in working with gender and sexual diversity.
Who creates the Kalda courses?
Every Kalda course is created and clinically reviewed by our clinical therapy team who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Each course lists our guide's name, pronouns, credentials, and bio so you can see exactly who's behind what you're learning.
What therapy approaches does Kalda use?
Kalda's courses are built on three evidence-based therapy approaches: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Every course adapts these for queer lives, taking minority stress, identity, and chosen family into account from the start.
What does Kalda cost?
The Kalda lifetime pass is £99 (currently reduced from £149) and gives you full access to every course, forever. We also have a mobile app in beta that has a monthly and annual plan. If £99 is out of reach, we have a pay-what-you-can option, just email hello@kalda.co and we'll be happy to help.
Is my data private?
Yes. You can use Kalda with a username and pronouns of your choice, no real name required when signing up. In any of our online calls, our facilitators are DBS-checked, trained Mental Health First Aiders. We don't sell your data, ever. Full detail in our privacy policy and safeguarding page.
What if I'm in crisis right now?
Kalda is not a crisis service. If you're struggling to keep yourself safe, please reach out to one of these free 24/7 services: Samaritans (call 116 123), Shout (text 'Shout' to 85258), or the Switchboard LGBT+ helpline (call 0800 0119 100, 10am to 10pm). For emergencies, call 999 or NHS 111. More on our safeguarding page.
