FAQ

Common questions.

Does this help with body dysphoria specifically, or only social dysphoria?
Both. The course covers the full range, body, social, voice, and the harder-to-name cumulative kind. The emotional-processing tools apply across all forms of dysphoria.
Is this useful if I am pre-transition or not transitioning medically?
Yes. The course is designed to be useful at any stage, pre-transition, mid-transition, post-transition, or not transitioning medically at all. Dysphoria management is its own skill, separate from any medical pathway.
Will this replace medical transition for me?
No. The course is a complement to whatever medical or social transition path you choose, not a replacement for it. The aim is to make dysphoria more manageable day to day, not to suggest you can think your way out of needing affirming healthcare.
How long are the modules?
Each session is bite-sized, typically 10 to 20 minutes. The course is fully self-paced, so you can pause, return, and re-watch whenever feels useful.
What format is the course in?
Short therapist-led video sessions in the Kalda app, paired with reflective exercises you can do in-app or in your own notebook. Everything is private to you.
How much does Kalda cost?
The Kalda app is free to download on iOS and Android. Full access to this course and every other course in the library is a monthly or annual subscription, purchased in the app. Current prices are always shown in the app before you commit to anything.
Is Kalda only for LGBTQIA+ people?
Kalda is built by and for queer people, and the content assumes a queer reader. Anyone is welcome to take a course; the framing, examples and clinical context are written through a queer lens throughout.
What if I am in crisis?
Kalda is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please contact Samaritans (116 123), Shout (text "Shout" to 85258), or NHS 111. Our safeguarding page lists all routes.
