FAQ

Common questions.

Should I take this instead of seeing a GP or starting therapy?
No. The course is designed to sit alongside clinical support, not replace it. If you suspect you are depressed, please see a GP. The course is a useful companion to therapy and to medication, not a substitute for either.
Will this work if I am on antidepressants?
Yes. The cognitive and behavioural tools in the course are designed to work alongside medication. Many people taking antidepressants find this kind of structured learning helps them notice patterns medication alone does not address.
Is this for clinical depression or just low mood?
Both. The framework applies whether you are working with diagnosed depression, persistent low mood, or seasonal dips. The course explicitly distinguishes between the two and adjusts the recommendations accordingly.
How long are the modules?
Each session is bite-sized, typically 10 to 20 minutes. The course is fully self-paced, so you can pause, return, and re-watch whenever feels useful.
What format is the course in?
Short therapist-led video sessions in the Kalda app, paired with reflective exercises you can do in-app or in your own notebook. Everything is private to you.
How much does Kalda cost?
The Kalda app is free to download on iOS and Android. Full access to this course and every other course in the library is a monthly or annual subscription, purchased in the app. Current prices are always shown in the app before you commit to anything.
Is Kalda only for LGBTQIA+ people?
Kalda is built by and for queer people, and the content assumes a queer reader. Anyone is welcome to take a course; the framing, examples and clinical context are written through a queer lens throughout.
What if I am in crisis?
Kalda is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please contact Samaritans (116 123), Shout (text "Shout" to 85258), or NHS 111. Our safeguarding page lists all routes.
