Our Trans Inclusion Statement
Kalda is a space for LGBTQ+ people, and that includes you, whether you’re trans, non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender, intersex, questioning, or exploring what any of those words mean for you.
You don’t need to have it figured out. You don’t need a label. You don’t need to have come out, started a medical pathway, or told anyone else. You’re welcome here as you are, today.
What this means in practice
Your identity is yours. We take you at your word about who you are. You decide what to share, when, and with whom.
Your name and pronouns are respected. The name you give us is the name we use. If you change it, we change with you. The same goes for your pronouns.
Misgendering and deadnaming are not okay here. Whether it happens in the community forum, in a sharing circle, or anywhere else in the app, we treat it as a breach of our community standards, not as a difference of opinion.
Transphobia has no home at Kalda. That includes the louder forms (slurs, harassment, “debate” about whether trans people exist or deserve rights) and the quieter ones (the dismissive comment, the pointed question, the joke). Our moderators act on both.
Your space is shared with other trans and queer people. Sharing circles, the community forum, and the courses on Kalda are built with us in mind, not as an afterthought, and not as a niche audience to be tolerated.
Where we stand
Trans rights are human rights. We oppose any law or policy that restricts trans people’s access to healthcare, legal recognition, or public life, wherever in the world it happens, and whoever proposes it. Gender-affirming care is healthcare. The right to be recognised as who you are is not a debate.
When the world outside Kalda gets harder, the space inside Kalda matters more, not less. That’s part of why we’re here.
If something goes wrong
If another member says something transphobic, or anything else that makes Kalda feel less safe for you, please tell us. You can report posts in the community forum directly, or email us at hello@kalda.co. We read every report, and we act.
If a member of our own team gets something wrong (uses the wrong name, makes an assumption, fumbles a pronoun), we want to know. We’ll own it, fix it, and learn from it.
A note on therapy and wellbeing content
The therapists who create content for Kalda are LGBTQ+ themselves. The meditations, courses, and journal prompts are written knowing that gender, transition, dysphoria, joy, family, and identity are part of the picture, not topics to tiptoe around.
That said, Kalda is a wellbeing app, not a mental health service or a substitute for gender-affirming care. If you’re navigating something that needs more than self-care can offer (whether that’s mental health support, gender-affirming healthcare, or a crisis), please reach out to a professional or a crisis service. We list some on the app.
We’re listening
This statement is not the end of the conversation. The language around gender keeps evolving, and so does our understanding of how to hold space well. If something here doesn’t sit right with you, or if there’s something we’re missing, please tell us at hello@kalda.co.
We’re with you.
